That kick, low in his belly. Inappropriate lust taking him by surprise and causing his heart to stop for one painful moment.
Damon killed him once.
Everything about him is abrasive and sharp; the lines of his face and his wit and his pain. His teeth. Damon could cut him to ribbons, magic ring or not.
Damon could kill him again.
But there's the slow curl of heat, following in the wake of the burn from his whiskey and Alaric, heart hammering frantically behind his ribcage, loud enough for Damon to hear, can't say no.
He wears the ring anyway.
